Tell us about your business
Star Print is an independent, family owned and run, Stationers, Artist Materials and printing business based in Twickenham. Our family have had the shop for 37 years.
Our clientele have grown with us and we are lucky enough to continue to get to know new, young families that move into the area too.
Tell us a bit about yourself
I was born in Kingston and I have lived in the area all my life.
What made you start your business / career?
It’s a family business so I was able to have a great work/life balance while my children were growing up.
Current figures show that women are behind roughly one in three businesses, why do you think that number isn’t higher?
Having your own business is so time consuming and many women are juggling so many other things.
As a women in your sector, what challenges have you faced?
We’ve been very lucky in that sense and I don’t feel like I’ve faced too many challenges because I am female.
How important is it for women to lift each other up and which women do you feel has supported you the most to get to where you are today?
Very important to have female role models in your life for guidance. My mum, sisters and daughter have always been a great support. Us girls have got to stick together!
